Last night I was sitting in a hot tub soaking up some much needed girl time, when my jam came on. Thrift Shop by Macklemore has been dubbed my song by my friends due to my penchant for thrift shopping; which led Buffy to tell me all about this new blog she found from a lady called the Refashionista. The what!? This sweet-ass gal takes things she buys for a dollar at the thrift store and turns it into things you’d buy for thousands! Yup! That is my kinda gal. (Disclaimer: I don’t actually know that she has a sweet-ass, it’s just an expression.

Tonight, after reading about a dozen or so entries, I was massively inspired to refashion everything in my closet, but decided I should start small. Needless to say, she is my new favorite blog! Hooray!!
Let’s start with this:
My brother bought this as a gift for my 20th birthday. I haven’t worn it in a good couple of years, but for whatever reason couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it. Thank God! It’s from
and it’s made out of this super soft charcoal colored sweater material. At first I was thinking of turning it into a shorter skirt, but that presented the task of having to gather, then sew, which I figured would be an unflattering fit in the end. Then I just pulled it up to my chest, and the idea for a sweater dress was born. I have been wanting a sweater dress for so long, but I haven’t found anything I was really crazy about, so I’ve remained sweater dress-less. Until now.
A little liquid inspiration:
A little tune-age:
And we’re off!
After taking out the stitching, I simply sewed up the side slits. Easy peasy. Now I have a super cute sweater dress!! At some point, I will need to replace the elastic, and maybe add some darts around the waist, but it’s wearable right now.
